Clinton Hill up until 1982 was 1 of 5 towns that made up Bed-Stuy.

It has so been disputed for generation that people have been confused for years where Clinton Hill brooklyn Ends and Bedford Stuyvesant begins. Some people like the the Notoious B.I.G. are often heard misquoting where they are in fact from. The truth is that up until 1982 Clinton hill a neighborhood with the bounderies of Vanderbuilt to the west, Classon to the east, wallabout bay to the north and atlantic ave to the south was in fact 1 of the 5 neighborhoods that made up bed-Stuy. It was made an independent neighborhood to begin a long gentrification process that would lure whites to Brooklyn and raise the value of Brownstones in the newly found "Historic" district. There is even talk of new legislation that would expand it to Franklin avenue to push the local Blacks back even further to give more elbow room to the "Bohemian" art students of Pratt institute which has been a local institution since the mid 1800's.
